Anorak

The Anorak is a producer and DJ.
This is what he had to say...

"Society defines itself by what it excludes.
Through the inseparable entity of media/politicians we are sold our individuality, pigeon-holed and categorized. Those groups who are marginalized or considered "deviant" are the very people that prevent the system from falling into disarray and uphold its hypocritical values...
...yet the realization of the importance of subculture is lost.
Here is my place, i am lost..." Anorak.

Atomcraft

"Just me and my laptop.. although not in Michael J Rocks, where it is me, my laptop, this guy that followed me home after i gave him change, and his laptop......."

Sounds like:

"R2D2 having a wank.. but not just a quick one.. he's got the massage oils out, the scented candles and he's looking at pictures of himself."

Blam

Blam is one of Bristol's best kept secrets.

Recently signed to 1 Man Army Records, he has supported the likes of Soundermurder and DJ Hidden @ Bashout, and played Monsters of Cock and STFU & Rave at the Black Swan. Blam is also signed to Peace Off under his alias B-Lam.

His music is a blend of turbo-charged breakcore and darker-than-dark drum & bass, with a slice of jazzcore thrown in for good measure.

Coma K

Cold Techno laced Industrial.

c0ma-K is a new project focusing on the darker side of industrial music.

The themes of the music and lyrics focus on disassociation from reality and detraction from stagnated life in the post-millenium era that we seem to have reached.

"......? we wanted to hear nasty sooooooounds"

Defazed

"Producing twisted music since 2001. I spent my mid-late teens playing guitar in various thrash/death metal bands in Plymouth. It was a pretty dull scene that I rapidly became bored of. At the same time I was experimenting with recordings of my guitar and sequencing beats on my computer.

I left Plymouth in 2001 and came to bristol to study a degree in Creative Music Technology at university. My musical preference rapidly shifted to electronica and jungle, and I spent a lot of time listening to a lot of new music. I tried my hand at several types of electronic dance music, but none of them really did it for me and I some how ended up writing whatever it is I write now.

In 2003 I played my first live show with Headphobe, and we have been playing together (mostly) since that night. I don't like to be pigeon-holed or forced into a sub genre.

I like producing dark, emotional, deep, and intense music. If you're interested, take a listen!"

Defazed released his debut 12" vinyl 'Cortex Run' on 1 Man Army Records to critical acclaim in 2004.

Headphobe & Defazed were crowned the 1st ever Laptop Battle UK team champions at Laptop Battle 3 in March 2007.

Defazed released the 1st MP3 digital download EP 'Volatile Systems' on 1 Man Army Records in May 2007.

Electrobunny

Nick Sutton began his musical life in the classical scene as an instrumentalist and composer. After writing works for several groups, eventually recieving an award from the ICA for a composition for the Contemporary Arts Ensemble, his attention turned to electronic music.

Since 2003 he has been experimenting with live laptop mixing and performance, alternating spun out improvisation with solid dirty stomping tunes, playing for Hijacker, Weekender, Aqueous and Notes Alive.

In 2004 he released his first EP 'Lodge' through Studio 6 Records under the name Little Rabbit, and 2006 saw his joining the Audio Aubergine Net-Label with his newly formed LRAB art collective.

In 2005 he became associated with 1 Man Army Records and performed his music at Kuantum_Window and Plummet events as Electrobunny.

His invitation to appear at the Philadelphia 'Electro-Music' Festival resulted in his self release of the Electrobunny 'Aythax Game' E.P.

In 2007 he released his 'Lotus' EP on 1 Man Army Records under the name LRAB.

Flooglebinder

Simon Clayden produces electronic music, which parodies life as a producer in a world where music has become a type of throwaway culture.

Flooglebinder gives quick access to his music by pursuing elegant melodies with hyper-edited beats and elastic visuals. He comments on how his music must have a degree of recollection, and shadow previous works with a similar gravitational pull towards emotion.

Flooglebinder develops his music alongside highly expressive visuals, which are created using the latest 3d technology.

Simon Clayden was co-founder, promoter, producer, and graphic designer for the KUANTUM_WINDOW series of electronic music events in Bristol which ran between 2004 and 2005.

Fracas

Fra·cas [ fráyk?ss, frák?ss ] (plural fra·cas)

Definitions: A noisy, disorderly fight or quarrel; a brawl.
Early 18th century: French, "crash, roar". Italian fracassare "cause an uproar".

Fracas tries to stand aside from any generic style of music. Technically, you could call it electronica, but really it's an eclectic exercise and battle between many different influences and genres, hence the name.

"I was signed to 1 Man Army in 2004, after playing them my extreme 'Technobarn E.P.' whilst tensing on LSD, nearly a year earlier, thanks to my good friend Glitchard Gale! Since then I have refined my sound to a more speiragraphic place and have played live alongside artists such as DJ Food, Max Tundra and 65 Days of Static, as well as performing at many parties, gigs and with my partner in grime, Iddikk."

Headphobe

Headphobe (aka Ned Clarke) has been rinsing the underground scene and has produced thousands of tracks which he has been dropping like bombs at clubnights, parties and raves around the UK since his debut show at EPOCH in 2003.

Headphobe has headlined nights at The Thekla and The Black Swan, his music has had people dancing in a frenzied state for hours and hours to his unique dancefloor sounds at all the best local underground clubnights including... Epoch, Kuantum_Window, Plummet, Toxic Dancehall, Dissident, DMT, Monkey!Knife!Fight!, P.R.A.N.K., Kuntz... supporting many highly respected producers including... Venetian Snares, Muziq, Hellfish, Crystal Distortion, Chris Clarke, D'Kat, Hammer Damage, Black Sun Empire...

Headphobe fuses hyper-edited rhythms with his extraordinary live keyboard drumming, pushing back the boundaries of hardcore electronic dance music.

His live sets can range from euphoric electronica and spiral techno to old-school jungle, hardcore, gabber, and could include his popular CHOPINNY.TUPP remixes.

Torrents of dirty mashuptronica raging around a central orb.

"I've been doing music since I can remember. Playing drums and piano was never enough so I turned to computers. Having studied music tech at school/college I tried to go to uni but found it a bit shit. Nowerdays I sit around on various computers generating music and artwork.

I love dance music (not house) and most things electronic. My influences are endless. My music is a representation of everyday life as I see it. Quite often I am accused of being paranoid and a worryer so my music follows a similar track. I try not to emphasise concepts too much in my music. Track names are usually just off the cuff (whatever the finished track makes me feel like).

I have done about 60 gigs in and around Bristol and they were mostly great. There has been a great reponse to mine and Defazed's music for which I am very thankful/proud.

Having pioneered a new type of live electronica, we are now waiting for a bit of money so that we can get some new toys and bump up our set. The future will be sik. Dont doubt it for a second." hp'05

Headphobe released his debut 12" vinyl 'Metanoia' on 1 Man Army Records in 2005.

Headphobe was crowned the 1st ever Laptop Battle UK champion in June 2006. He was 'de-throwned' at Laptop Battle 2 by the mighty Shinra but in March 2007 Headphobe & Defazed were crowned the 1st ever Laptop Battle UK team champions at Laptop Battle 3.

Iddikk

South-west UK based solo artist Carlo Degregorio (a.k.a. Iddikk) creates his own fusion of mashed machines to explore the complex networks of biochemical oscillations and ripples in the mind.

The music often projects fast menacing rhythmic sequences that interact with discharges of psychedelic melodies and sonic landscapes; the music communicates a futuristic lifestyle.

Iddikk performs his music using cutting edge live sequencing and audio manipulating software, while some of his work includes remixing and collaborations with Fracas and Electrobunny, and also in live performances with Fracas.

Iddikk is the youngest producer associated with 1 Man Army Records and has produced and performed some next level music at Glitch Night, Alternative Blueprint, Kuantum_Window and The Molotov Cocktail Party in Bristol, Bath, and Bridgwater.

Loz Koleszko

Loz Koleszko spearheads the label roster and headlined the launch party EPOCH in support of his debut EP 'THE MONKEYS DANCED LIKE CUBOIDS' on 1 Man Army Records.

Since the release of his debut EP, Loz Koleszko has continued to win over hordes of new music fans with his quirky electronica and legendary live sets around the UK over the last 4 years.

Loz has performed his own unique brand of electronica at events such as Toxic Dancehall, Monkey!Knife!Fight!, Plummet, Ordio Enjinn, Supertrigger, Ghost Explorers, Kuantum_Window and Club Choke and has been seen around the country performing alongside artists such as Plaid, Cylob, Mike Dred and B12 (to name just a few).

Check out his new website for some inside misinformation from the man behind the mask of the original, Loz Koleszko.

The Loz Koleszko Corporate Machine: www.lozk.co.uk

"I make music on my computer. I particularly like making music using the numbers 3*, 12*, 80 and 90. I don't like using the notes E and G because they are boring.
*But only in conjunction with the numbers 4 and 8. The numbers 3 and 12 alone make music sound slow but not in a good way - it's irritating."

Loz Koleszko released his ambient EP 'The More I Sleep' on 1 Man Army Records in 2007.

Pseudoscience

Pseudoscience has been rinsing peoples minds with his 100% LIVE Reaktor sets.
Systematic amplitude and frequency modulations.

Pseudoscience is the music of evolving machines and their conflict with humanity.
It suggests our inevitable fate of developing organic machines which will blur the boundaries between creator/created and distort ideas about who or what is in control.

Pseudoscience attacks certain views about humans being able to live in a prosthetic environment where human and computer technology live in symbiosis.

The human frailty in the music is broken apart at the edges by machines which yearn to spiral into chaos, but which also try to mimic what they destroy.

The Acousmatizer

What can be said for The Acousmatizer? An eclectic mashup of most forms of electronic music, dance or otherwise, from the last 60 years. Think musique concrete with hard, fast breakcore rhythms and acid techno melodies. Think hip hop with industrial beats and psy-trance leads. Think music mother would not approve of. Starting the project with extreme speed and dedication, The Acousmatizer have wasted no time in their one-off production after a chance meeting at a uni lecture led to full time programming and manipulation of everything they can get their hands on. Whether it be bedroom listening or dancefloor madness, The Acousmatizer is coming, and it's a force to be reckoned with.

Two.Seconds.Per.Sonar

"Word! I'm Jack Fletcher, a musician from Bristol. I am involed in several bands and projects at the moment, the main one being Michael J Rocks, a breakcore collaboration with my good friend Luke Smith. This however is my solo project TWO.SECONDS.PER.SONAR. This alias embodies my more instrumental, experimental and generally less breakcorey electronica stuff (though I can't help shoving a few gabba kicks and amens in there from time to time!). This is a sideline to MJR and as such I don't write tracks very often but as I do I'll be sure to post them for y'all to enjoy."

Sounds like: "a wet fish being slapped against some guitars while an epileptic man fits on a drum machine after watching that infamous episode of miami vice where yan hammer drives a squad car into a alternative dimension causing a time paradox so confusing that man is forced to reconsider the usefulness of wet fish within an acoustic context and thusly the necessity to invent both plectrums and captain birdseye whilst burying the only existing copy of the aforementioned episode deep within the plastic bowels of joanna lumley to be lost forever along with punctuation and faith"
